Jets confident about defeating Sky Blues

Newcastle Jets midfielder Jacob Pepper has said that his team's reviving confidence could be the deciding factor in their upcoming match against Sydney FC.

We knew we had a hard road ahead with three away games in a row, but to get four points on the road from the first two games has been a real boost.

The Jets, who are notably poor travellers, registered their first away win of the season in the 1-0 defeat of Brisbane Roar last week and then followed it up with another important away point in the 1-1 draw with Adelaide United.
Their improved results in away fixtures have led Pepper to believe that they can get the job done against the Sky Blues as well on Sunday.
Newcastle were the second-last side in the league table up until a few weeks ago, but a couple of positive results have put them in contention for the A-League finals.
With a win over Sydney this weekend, they can claim sixth place in the table from coach Vitezslav Lavicka's men, who have won just once in their last seven league fixtures.
"We knew we had a hard road ahead with three away games in a row, but to get four points on the road from the first two games has been a real boost to our confidence and hopefully we can continue that this week," Pepper said.
"It is one of the most important matches of the season. If we get a result it will put us in the top six which is where we want to be leading up to the back end of the season.
"So this weekend is massive and especially it being an F3 derby, I know the boys can't wait. It is always one of the best matches in the season," he added.
The Jets are 3.80 to gain another victory on the road, with the draw 3.40 and Sydney 2.00 to win on home turf.
